Colchester English Study Centre (CESC) has a long tradition of quality English language teaching, receiving students from all over the world who want to learn English in Britain.

The school was set up in 1969 by the publisher Oxford University Press. It is British Council accredited and is the only private language school in Colchester.

CESC occupies three large Georgian buildings in the very elegant Lexden area of Colchester, just five minutes' walk from the centre of town. The school has 22 classrooms and can accommodate up to 280 students.

Colchester English Study Centre is an authorised centre for the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (KET, PET, FCE,CAE,CPE), and for the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam, which is run at the Centre roughly every two weeks.

Since 1988, CESC has run a junior summer programme for 12-18 year-olds, International Language Holidays, which is also British Council accredited.
